Hey guys I’m desperate for some help! I’ve been very slowly tapering off Effexor after being on it for 9 years. I was on it for neuropathic pain, anxiety/depression. After a decade of therapy my psychiatrist and I agreed I was ready to start going off it. I managed to reduce 150 mg to 37.5 mg very slowly over the course of 9 months with no issue. I was excited to finally go off it completely as planned, I followed instructions and took my final dose 5 days ago. Instead of celebrating I’m absolutely devastated by the withdrawal symptoms. Horrible irritability, anxiety, fits of crying, nausea, night sweats and nightmares.

I don’t understand why this is happening!? I’ve tapered so slowly and done everything by the book. Why is this happening? Does anyone know how long I can expect to experience this? Can anyone offer any advice? I’m devestated.
