[Spoilers about Authority] Has anyone read Authority by Jeff Vandermeer. The second book in the Southern Reach Trilogy?
This series has been great so far and I am really looking forward to the movie. But with that aside there was one interesting (and unfortunate) thing I wanted to point out.
You know how in Authority there is the part where #s Grace is telling the story from Controls past about him getting that girlfriend Rachel killed whose boyfriend was part of the militia Control was spying on?
Well, that whole story resembles a similar event that happened in my hometown. A boyfriend and a few of his friends took his girlfriend up to this mountain area and shot her due to apparent jealousy issues. Nothing military related like in Authority. But the weirdest part is that her name was also Rachel. It really shook our town to the core and the similarities between these stories was just a bit eerie.
Anyway, sorry to ruin your day with this grim story. I just wanted to share it with someone who has read the book.
