So, Beasts of Extraordinary Circumstance is really good so far!

I'm into the second short story of the book, probably about 75 pages in. Weylyn is such an easy to love character... I'm looking forward to reading more, and I'm curious if anyone else has picked this one up.

My only complaint thus far is that most of the side characters seem to have the same voice. Apart from that, it's an interesting place to straddle the line between magic realism and something else that I can't place. Not quite urban fantasy, I don't think...

So, those classic pieces of literature of the 21st Century...

Where are they? Do they even exist? As a novice reader I am at least from a notable distance aware of the fact that the 2000s had Harry Potter. However, my question is that where are the Hemingway's and Joyce's of today, and are they even actually real? I ask because my curiosity is massive. I yearn and long for a fictional masterpiece regarding the internet, Trump, mass hysteria, depression, and all this fucking buffoonery and turmoil. Where is it? Please give me some pointers. If it isn't there, then fuck the world.

So, i just finished flowers for Algernon

I have been getting back into reading lately, and i have to say that i found this book amazing.

The way you read the book, through charlie his reports makes you feel like you actually know him and are part of the experiment. It feels so personal.

Going through his struggles with him, gaining intelligence, remembering his abussive mother, having actual romantic human contacts, clarifying his past, and then losing all of this.

Honestly this book was a trainwreck of emotions and i'm really happy a book has got me feeling like i am right now.

Just felt like i had to share this with someone.

Thanks for listening, and if you guys have some recommendations please dont hesitate to throw them my way!

So, what books did people receive for Christmas this year?

I’m currently sitting on The Power by Naomi Alderman, Swallows and Amazons, Consider the lobster by David Foster Wallace, and who could forget ‘the lady bird book of the big night out’

Curious to hear what all you other wonderful folk received in terms of literary gifts?

Hope you’ve all had a great Christmas so far, too!
