i've finally found myself enjoying reading again with romance novels.
i used to love reading in high school, but since starting college in january, i've not only found that i don't have time to read like i used to, but that i didn't even want to. when i was younger, i would check out a stack of books from the library each week and just tear through them like it was nothing. for this entire year, my attention span for reading for leisure was just gone, and it felt more like a chore.
recently, i discovered romance novels - you know, the ones with a swooning lady and a super ripped man on the cover. i'd never read them before, mostly because they never interested me and i liked to read the things on bestsellers lists instead, but i saw one at a bookstore about two or three months ago and picked it up.
i guess they're just easier on my brain, and i don't have to feel like i need to try to find the symbolism behind everything. it's something that i can just enjoy, and for the first time in a while, i'm finding myself carving out an hour or two of my day to read and relax. i actually look forward to coming home from errands or whatever to read for a while.
reading shaped a huge portion of my life, and it's nice to have that passion back.
