New, Used, or Loaned?
As the title suggests, how do you like to get your books? Do you buy them new or used, or do you borrow them from the library?
I used to prefer everything new, because I like them to be pristine--I wouldn't write in them or even bend the binding much. Then, I thought that was silly and my money could be more purposefully. I then would just get books from the library. For the books I thoroughly enjoyed, though, I missed owning the books as it was a sort of reminder of the wisdom they imparted on me, and it's nice to just go back to specific passages from time to time. I like the idea of used books, because it's sort of like the best of both; I like the idea that they're sort of being shared or passed along, and creating less waste, but buying them online, the cost of used is often the same as new with no guarantee of the condition. Thoughts?
