Is it normal to forget a book so fast?

I’ve been reading A Feast For Crows (finished it now) and The Prisoner of Azkaban (more than halfway through) and in both books (and many before) I’ve been having the same problem: I enjoy it immensely, get immersed in the universe of the book, close it to go to bed, then have a difficulty recalling the details of what happened. Of course, I remember generalities like who died and why, and when I pick up where I left off, I remember all the events that matter and rarely ever have to go back, but if I’m reading a big amount of pages (100 in one sitting before bed) I tend to forget what happened in the pages I read and try to do a mental revision of everything by flapping through the pages and reading snippets. I don’t want to be going through the books just for the bragging rights of being done with a book, I don’t know if that’s why I’m doing it, but I sure am enjoying! Am I being too harsh on myself? Is this normal?
