His Dark Materials was amazing

Ok, so this post is not going to be very eloquently written, but I just wanted to share my feelings about the books.

When I was younger, around 7 or 8, I read The Golden Compass. I remember being confused and not liking it very much, so I never went on to read the rest of the books. A few weeks ago, I saw a book that had all three of the original books in it at a thrift store for $2 and bought it, thinking I would give it a second chance. That turned out to be a great decision.

Immediately I was grabbed by the world that Phillip Pullman created. It was intriguing, with things such as “Dust” or “daemons”. I loved the characters and the great fantasy adventure of the first book. When I moved on to the Subtle Knife, I again was enraptured with concepts like the parallel worlds. And in the final book, the criticisms of religion and the culmination of the coming of age story were amazing.

Overall, I think these books are deservingly hailed as one of the best fantasy series. I can’t wait to read beyond the original three, and I would recommend them to anyone.
