Haunted by Chuck Palahniuk
I just finished Chuck Palahniuk's "Haunted". After buying it from a used book store, I read the first (infamous) short story "Guts" and set it down for about a year. I came back to it over my winter break and read it in a few days. The format was very interesting, set up in a repeating Main Story, Poem, Short Story pattern, but I'm not sure I really understood the narrative. I think I would've been just as interested had it been a traditional short story collection. Either way, the form was interesting and the stories were gross, interesting, and a few of them I chilled by. I would love to hear thoughts about how form impacts narrative and about the horror genre in general.
