Can I still improve my ability at my age?
Hello r/books. I'm currently a 32 year old first-year Orthopedic research resident who is in charge of publishing and writing various manuscripts. Ever since I was a child I absolutely hated reading. I can count on both hands the number of books I've read in my lifetime.
This has been evident when standardized exams related to verbal reasoning test my ability to interpret a passage, and I would score poorly on this section; compared to the math counterpart. I just got back my first thesis and was torn to shreds by how poorly the paper was written.
Since we just started 2018, I want to become a better writer. I still don't like to read, BUT I do enjoy reading scientific journals. If I were to read a scientific journal once a day would there be any hope on potentially being able to improve my writing skills?
