Did you like 11/22/63? Avoid the Hulu show like the plague.
I finished the book about a week ago and, my God, was it amazing. It quickly became a book in my top 5 of all time and is seriously contending with the top spot, currently held by 1Q84.
The book is 1080 pages long and never gets to a point where I was bored. The entire time I wanted to know what was next, etc.
I told my wife about it and I finally convinced her to watch the show with me so she could get the basic understanding of the book’s plot and story because it was so great.
What a mistake.
The show is the book in name ONLY. None of the characters act like they do in the book. None of the storylines go the way from the book. It just doesn’t work at all.
In fact, they turned this serious amazing book into a comedy show. Comedy. My wife and I spend more time pausing and laughing at it than we do watching it.
It’s been fun for us to laugh so hard at something but, at the fame time, it’s destroying something amazing.
Which also leads me into: Why are so many adaptations done so poorly when the text is so easy to convert over?
