Hard time reading classics/older books, tips?
I'm not a native English speaker, but I see myself as quite fluent. I have no problem reading books released during the 20th century and onward, but when I try to get through things like "Ethics" by Baruch Spinoza, "Meditations" by Marcus Aurelius or "The Gay Sciencec" by Friedrich Nietzsche (you catch the drift what kind of books I mean) I have a really hard time keeping up, often needing to re-read the text once or twice to catch the message. It makes my reading slow and tedious.
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to improve? Often I find the translations in my native language sub-par.
