Does anyone find that too much excitement to find out what happens in a book hinders their enjoyment of reading?
This has so far been weird to people I've mentioned it to, but yesterday I read a comment that got me wondering if I should post this question here. Sometimes, books that are too suspenseful and make me want to find out about some plot twist or mystery actually hinder my enjoyment. It's like I want to rush to it or rush through the whole story to find out what happens, and I find myself skipping whole paragaphs and pages. In those instances, I have to spoil myself in order to go back and read the whole thing comfortably and appreciate the story.
I like reading books that make me wonder what happens next, of course. But I prefer being 'comfortably curious', with an ebb and flow of questions and answers, rather than a mystery that's just making me focus on it above all else. Anyone else?
