How much time do you give yourself between books?

I got a number of books from my fiancee for the holidays, and I'm eager to read them all. I just finished reading Kafka on the Shore and loved it - it was strange, dreamlike and even Lynchian at times, yet also very soothing, giving me this tranquil feeling every time I picked it up.

Now I'm eager to start Jeff Vandermeer's Borne, but I feel like I'd be doing myself and Murakami a disservice by immediately launching into it. I'm still thinking about characters and scenes from Kafka, as well as enjoying the spell it cast over me.

So, fellow readers, how long do you give yourself between books? Do you find there's a good amount of time to reflect on what you read before you feel comfortable moving on to a new book?
