I saw a post from a guy who was wondering if a book was too valuable to actually read or keep accessible, and that made me wonder: what do you guys think about books being valuable as objects or collector's items?

I personally don't care if it's a first edition or an old paperback, the value for me comes from my interactions with the text. If i get a copy signed, it's usually because i wanted to go to an event to see the author speak. But that's just me.
