Is there a website where you can buy another person a book?

I have this idea about a website. In short, it's a wishlist system, where you can buy a book for another person from their wishlist. Think of it a bit like public amazon wishlists, where you can insert your credit card details, pay, and in a few days, the person you bought the book for receives it.

I love the idea of this and I'm playing with how to make it possible. It'd give well-off people, or people who simply want to give others of poorer standing a bit more help/opportunities, the chance to provide something, without having to share personal details (a bit like secret santa, too, in the way that you don't necessarily have to know who bought the book for you) or spending 'too much' (I've seen that often donations to a 'good cause' are arbitrary and some institutions have a minimum donation you have to make). This website would make it simpler. If you want to spend $5 to buy someone a new romance novel, you can. If you want to spend $150 to buy a teenager a stack of school and/or other books she wants to read, you also can do it.

Does something like this exist? Do you think it'd work? If it doesn't exist, I'd love to look into it a bit more and see if I can make it work myself, but am unsure of liability and so on. Do you guys have any ideas or comments? Please weigh in!
