Hi everyone! So here's my problem... Two years ago a friend introduced me to fan fiction. I fell in love with it and was sadly almost addicted at some point. Now that I got over it, I started reading books again (like I used to) but it's really hard to actually get into any story. I tried reading several books but I always feel like it's all going way too slow. I think it's because when you read fan fiction you already know all the backstory, the characters, the setting, so it's very focused on the events and the author can get into it promptly. What are your thoughts on that?
