Presidential Biographies
A life goal of mine is to read and own the "definitive" biography of every US president (extending to other world leaders if time and money allow). I'm looking for ideas for each president. Just to start things off here are a few that I'm thinking about:
Washington "Washington: A Life" by Ron Chernow
Adams "John Adams" by David McCullough
Jackson "American Lion" by Jon Meacham
Roosevelt "Roosevelt Trilogy" by Edmund Morris
I feel like those are the easy choices. But then we get to a president like Grant. Do I read "Grant" by Chernow? "American Ulysses" by White? Or Grant's "Personal Memoirs?" And I haven't even started thinking about Lincoln or Jefferson or many of the 20th century presidents.
I hope this is an appropriate subreddit for this conversation, because I feel it's scope is wider than a simple book recommendation. But if the mods deem it inappropriate I can move it elsewhere.
