Trying to get out of loneliness "sink"

Hi everyone!

Here's the deal: In the past month I've done a lot of work to get over a severe bout of depression. I'm back to normal now, but I know that the root of the issue is loneliness.

Basically I'm in my late twenties, haven't had a relationship in years (and that was my first) and as a result, I get lonely and feel like loneliness is going to be a permanent part of my life.

As a result, I self-sabotage by secluding myself by putting more time into work.

I know that the solution is to build up a social group, but that's hard in a new city. Can someone give advice to avoid falling back into a seclusive "sink" like I've described?

Thank you to anyone who finds the time to help!
