What quote do you relate to in Agamemnon (Greek tragedy)?
So in my English class we are studying the Greek tragedy of Agamemnon, and one thing my teacher always asks is what character we most relate to in each book. To be completely honest, there is so little detail given in the play about any of the characters, and what’s worse is the translation we were given is in some funky old English. My dad has been super interested in Ancient Rome and always talks about how it was a time of honour and all the rest, but I am personally having trouble finding anything about it that I can relate to. I decided I might talk about Cassandra and how it sucks to get fucked over by a guy just because you don’t return their interest (deep, I know) but I am left with the same problem. I honestly cannot gather enough specific detail from the writing to remember a good quote, and there’s no way I’m going to comb through the whole play just for one quote for this assignment lol. So, I’m curious as to what other people have been able to identify with, since I’m sure there’s probably lots to go off of, but I’m just not seeing it. Also, if anyone has a plain English translation that they have found, it would make my life a lot easier in trying to find my quote. Thanks!
