Why do comic readers hate it when creators aren't nice 100% of the time?

I'm genuinely curious. Whenever a writer or artist responds with any sort of venom, or smarm, or passive aggressiveness, fans tend to be almost offended by it. No matter the context or situation, people seem to think it's unacceptable for them to be anything but nice. Like, they are still people with emotions, and man do they get bombarded with some foul and horrid messages, comments, and tweets. What do you guys think?
