Any advice on how to remove a crease from a paperback book as much as possible?

I had received a book as a gift from the librarians, as they deemed the book's condition to be too poor for the library. When I arrived home, I was horrified at my carelessness, as one of the textbooks in my school-bag had bent this book while I was packing to rush home because I was excited for the holidays. While I was fine with the yellowing pages and creases in the spine, my own mistake of creasing the front cover is what really bothers me.

Unfortunately, my own thoughtlessness has haunted me for a few months, as that crease had two consequences:

  • Ruining the beautiful cover-art http://ift.tt/2Cvrc2H (That book has multiple cover arts, and I was a dolt to ruin the version that appears to be rarer! It's an old book so it's hard to get exact replacements or even high-resolution images of the same cover-art to cover the cover!)

  • The feeling of the crease. Everytime I read the book, I am reminded of the reason of how I ruined the cover-art because my fingers can feel the crease, and I can feel the bend in the cover. (It bends so that when you open the book and while reading it, instead of the cover having a smooth curvature, it just has this horrible angle starting from the crease)

If any of you have any advice on how to reduce either the appearance of having a crease, or the feeling and prescence of the bend of the book, I will very grateful!

(And if it's impossible, I guess I will just have to live with it.)
