Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe... disappointment
(There will be spoilers so beware)
I just started to read this and got about 3/4 through before I had to stop. I honestly don't know how this book got 4 awards, with it's shallow content and cringey fanfiction-like writing. The plot overall seems good, not the strongest I've come across but I can see where it's trying to go.
I guess a good thing is that it's easy to just pick up and read, but that's due to there being no depth, no situation explanation, no truely interesting conversations, with most of them ending with the repetition of what the other character has said. It's bland and just utmost confusing with the story line. For example: Aristotle says he needs to kiss a girl and this continues as his main goal for a few chapters, and then it happens in no more than one paragraph. This is just unbelievable imo with the way that there was no real setting, it was just like "We were at the prom. Then she kissed me." Just no real content that I can believe is true, that this story really is the trouble of two 15 year old boys growing up, it skirts around a lot of experiences and I don't feel sucked into the universe and perhaps it's because I'm slightly to the older end of the target audience, but I just don't like this book to where I couldn't finish it.
