DARK KNIGHT III:MASTER RACE-observation/discussion
So, I sat down with DK3 for the first time and crushed it in an entire sitting here are some spoilerish free observations.
-it’s a lot better than I thought! It’s no DKR, but it’s definitely a lot more focused than DK2. I’d give it a solid B-
-after the Wonder Woman interlude (chapter 2?) I’d pay almost anything for an Eduardo Risso illustrated Wonder Woman Comic.
-everytime Green Lantern shows up its weird. His entire arc is just strange and cartoonish.
-everytime the Atom shows up he’s the only recognizable DC character. It’s the best character Work in the book.
-Lara’s KR earrings, the text message conversations and the Donald Work are all evidence that Frank the Tank has still got it.
-Carrie’s Batgirl/Batwoman Neon costume is rad as hell.
-I hope with this book DC finally puts to rest: Superman/kryptonians losing fights to “people with a plan!” Trope. (This book really takes the cake in book 5)
-DC characters are GODs, GODS, GODS! It felt so stiff and out of place.
-the immortal Batman.
-kandor being free in general (although this has surprisingly been one of the better twists on that story)
-brooding Superman. the story starts with the absolute worst status quo for Clark, but ends on such a high note I am now looking forward to a Miller/Romita Superman Yr1.
SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER FINAL OBSERVATION:
Uhhhhh is Bruce in love with Carrie? That was my read and regardless of what shakes down with him I think that’s a pretty gnarly direction to take it. Didn’t love that.
Anyone else read it and liked it? Would love to get some perspective from all sides.
