I'm involved in an independent study for my university utilizing the ArcGIS software program-- anyone want to bounce some ideas around in regards to topics?
Essentially ArcGIS is a program that manipulates geographical information and allows one to draw trends with it. It's heavily involved in all of our day to day lives, from computing the routes of efficiency in USPS deliveries to drawing up voting districts/parceling land to general surveys of just about everything. It's powerful as hell.
I want to base my GIS project on mental health issues that are relevant to today, and want to see if you guys have any suggestions/topics I could look into!
so far I have already created a project of the eastern PA region that evaluates addiction rates with respect to availability of green spaces. Turns out there is an interesting correlation there--- I don't argue causation at all, it's just interesting to visually see how higher rates of addiction problems relate to lack of public space.
Anyway, topics like that that I'm not thinking about would prove to be constructive--- I'm just drafting out ideas for now
cheers!
