Just Finished 'A Man Called Ove'
And I loved it. A lot of times those mainstream books rarely do it for me (ie. Ready Player One, Da Vinci Code, to name two), but this was equal parts funny and melancholy, at times personifying the Swedish humor I've come to know throughout the years (friends are from there, I am not...).
I just watched the movie on Prime tonight as well and the execution was fantastic. Very loyal to the book. I was curious how they would handle flashback sequences, but this was done beautifully.
Prior to this my foray into the world of Swedish authors was limited with Karl Ove Knausgard; who might as well be the black to this book's white.
I've heard this is going to be "America-fied" soon with Tom Hanks playing the lead. Truthfully, I don't see how it can even hold up to the original. It's going to be a tall, tall order.
If you haven't read it yet, do yourself a favor and go for it, then follow up with the movie as well.
