People with bipolar type 2, do you often have lots of mood swings per day?
I have MDD (major depressive disorder) with periodic phases where it seems my meds stop working as well and need adjustment - I was very stable for many years, over 10 years, and then the last 3 or 4 have been very up and down - it is so frustrating.
Anyway, I tried a mood tracking app and was very surprised to see how often I had big jumps in mood from really bad to almost too good/hyper - I showed it to my husband and he was not surprised at all. I guess I just never saw it objectively before.
Anyway, it's got me wondering if I might actually have bipolar type 2 with rapid cycling (forgive me if my terminology is wrong, just started doing some reading.)
I'm going to keep tracking my moods and give all the data to my psychiatrist at my next appointment - it's a month away so that should be a nice big data set - the app prompts you 5 or 6 times a day to rate your mood and I also go and rate it whenever it occurs to me to, especially when I'm having one or the other extreme.
Anyone have any thoughts or similar experiences to share?
Thanks!
TL:DR - Using a mood tracking app has brought my frequent mood swings to my attention, wondering if maybe my MDD is actually Bipolar type 2?
