I am super interested in reading the Bible for a few reasons: 1. I love tying metaphors and themes in current literature back to the Bible. It’s always interesting to see how those themes are interpreted and employed in modern writing (and even classical literature). 2. I really enjoy the stories of the Bible that have been told to me by family and friends, and would like to know them for myself. 3. There is certain language from the Bible that really speaks to me. Phrases like “I Am who I Am” are just really beautiful and I want to explore it a bit more. So I am looking for suggestions on the best ways to go about reading and studying the Bible as a literary text. Does anyone have recommendations on which version to read? Or if there are study guides or books to help me through it? What are some ways you’ve found to push through the (often monotonous) text?? Thanks for the input!
