So I loved the original red rising and this kinda just dropped without my notice until yesterday.

Was right in the middle of the codex alera series and the change from a lighthearted fantasy to a depressing torture filled sci fi was super jarring.

I think it actually made me dislike the book just because of how sad it made me feel. On the other hand the writing is phenomenal and I love how he makes you side against Darrow even though he's the "main character".

One thing I'm kinda uncomfortable about is Darrow and Mustang I really think there relationship is not going to survive this series. What about you?
