Should I use Razor Pages or MVC? Using ASP.Net Core

I want to start my first ever solo project. I have been using WebForms for over 8 months at my job and I don't like it. I tried looking for alternatives when I came across Razor Pages. I'm not 100% sure on the performance differences or any significant things I should know about relating to the differences between WebForms and Razor Pages except that the latter looks much more lightweight and less complicated/clunky.

I have been studying MVC for a few months after work and it definitely looks more appealing than WebForms but not sure if I should pick it over Razor Pages. I have read many contradictory sources of information comparing Razor Pages vs MVC, most likely from big fans of MVC who like to defend it to the death, and it's hard to make an informed decision (not sure if reddit will help me with this or not lol). So far I'm feeling more inclined to try out Razor Pages but at the same time I don't want to feel like I am wasting my time.

Are Razor Pages a good choice for a scalable web app? Can they achieve the same services and performance as MVC? I've heard MVC is better for dealing with REST API requests but not sure how true this is. I feel overwhelmed and need any advice you can give. Razor Pages seem to have less of a support community so I'm a little apprehensive towards using them.
