I have an old project with Web Forms in VB and I'm planning to migrate it to ASP.NET Core MVC with Identity.

The authentication of this project is built with Identity and Owin. My question is: when upgrading this project to Core, do I need Owin or the Core Identity is enough? Is Owin used with Core Identity? If yes, which cases?
