Old fox stuck with old asp.net and I want to reinvent myself.

I am creating a for fun service, where I am scanning some documents for make belief clients, and showcasing the documents/images to them through a web app / app.

I am behind on technology, and would like to know which "stack" or libraries to use for this project.

Help me with everything from the frontend (react maybe), to maybe using a technology for dataaccess. What storage should I use for data? What storage should I use for client images?
