I've searched the whole internet, but I haven't been able to find what a host is. I know it's a container for web apps, but that isn't a concrete thing to me. Is it a thread or a process? Is it a mini-virtual machine? Is it a program or a part of ASP.NET Core?

How is it related to a server?
