I am new to C# and .NET, a friend an I are working together on a website in .NET. He is developing on Windows in Visual Studio 2017, and I have a linux and so Visual studio code.

I'm having problems running his solution after cloning the project. I am not familiar enough with .NET to google anything useful to my problem.

How do I run his Visual Studio generated solutions, without creating empty ones of my own?

The project he created using Visual studio was a ASP.NET Web Application, he specified to me that it was not Core, but I might have misunderstood what he meant as I cannot find any way to create a web solution that is not Core.
