Need a bit of input, what framework to use for Android game?
Hey folks!
I am playing with the idea of implementing my version of the Boggle game for Android. The goal is learning, especially on the server side and put the project into my portfolio.
With the app I would aim for:
- a somewhat simple but responsive UI as the game is fast
- online high scores, challenges etc.
- Game setup, challenges etc would be server driven.
- iOS in not planned at the moment, but could be in the future.
I have a fair amount of experience with .NET Core, C#. I have good experience with ASP.NET Core MVC, Dependency Injection.
I have absolutely NULL experience with mobile platforms, mobile games, game accounts on mobile platforms and only very limited experience with WPF/MVVM and also little to null experience with JavaScript.
For me its not important to use Xamarin, but absolutely important to use .NET Core/C#. I also would like to have the platform not break down end get abandoned after a few years.
- Now what would be the best framework to use?
- In what direction I should begin to read? There are so many Xamarin and other options that I dont know here to begin the investigation. That's why this post...
- I also would like to ask the more experienced developers, what would be a conservative estimation for project-hours for the Android platform part. (everything which has to do with Android or the user on Android, not including the server managing game setup, state and score evaluations)?
Thanks in advance!
