Is it possible to save my changes without committing?

I'm using Visual Studio Community 2017. I have made a number of changes to multiple files in the project, however, now I think I would like to go about trying to solve the problem in a different way.

I know that I can simply cancel all the changes in the Team Explorer, but I'd like to have a backup of the changes just in case.

Is that possible to do? Can I save just the changes (not the entire project) to a file outside of the project?
