I have an old 1944 edition of the Grimm’s Fairy Tales and the spine cover has come off. What’s the best way to reattach it?

Here’s some pictures of the damage: http://ift.tt/2CblUcl

This was given to me as a baby as a gift, and has quite a bit of sentimental value to me so I want to bring it back to full health. Mostly though I want to be able to flip through and read it without feeling like it’s going to break apart in my hands.

It looks like all I need to do is glue it back on, but what kind of glue should I use? And how should I clamp it? And what’s the best way to get the frayed edges on the front and back cover laying flat and looking nice?

I’m also not sure this is the right subreddit to post in, so if not could y’all point me to an archivist sub or something like that? Thank you.
