Just finished reading The Man Who Laughs

What a wonderful book! I wish more people would take the time to read it, before I started reading it I was looking for some of your opinions in this sub, but I found nothing. I love Victor Hugo's style of writing, sometimes he just starts drifting away from the main plot taking about things that don't seem relevant, I gotta admit it, sometimes it is boring, but he writes and describes things so beautifully that you just want to keep reading and enjoying the prose. If you had read Les Miserables, you know what I'm talking about.

Gwinplaine is a boy who has had his mouth mutilated with a perpetual grin when he was little, that's why he is called The Man who Laughs. The story starts when he was abandoned by a group of child traffickers in a snowy day, looking for shelter he finds a corpse of a frozen woman protecting a baby girl (Dea) from the snow. He rescues her and finds shelter with a man called Ursus, an itinerant carnival vendor, who takes care of them and soon becomes a father to them.

If you are still looking for a really good book this Christmas, don't hesitate to buy this one.
