Just finished listening to Ready Player One read by Will Wheaton. I had heard a lot of hype which is why I broke down and bought it. For me, it did not live up to the hype. The writing seemed very juvenile. The sentence structure was very repetitive. "I did this, and then I did this". The 80s references hit me over the head with material that did little to actually move the plot along. The description of the future tech did much the same. Most of the conflict was watered down. Too many times Wade had the resolution simply given to him. The character growth from poverty to celebrity came seemingly without a price. Overall the book seemed like something written to a grade 10 English class.
