After finishing The Dark Tower series, I've realized I love bad movie adaptations that make you appreciate the source material even more (No Spoilers)

I just finished reading the last pages of the Dark Tower series, and it quickly became one of my favorite sagas. Every book is unique, and every book had something that stuck with me for a long time. Since reading Harry Potter in my childhood I don't remember feeling so attached to any characters as I was to Roland and his ka-tet.

When I started reading the last book, I made the mistake of watching the movie with some friends. I didn't like it, not because it took many liberties in telling the story, but because the characters and events felt empty. What also hurt me the most was how quickly they explained what's going on in the universe, giving information in the first 5 minutes that in the books you just start understanding in the end. I knew that the whole explanation had to be simplified, but still, it made me lose a bit of the motivation to keep on reading, and with a lot of things going on in my life, it made me take a pause.

I resumed the reading last month, and in a few pages I quickly remembered what had hooked me to the saga. And now, just having finished it, I'm amazed at Stephen King's imagination, and how he managed to create such a complex universe and so unique and fascinating characters. I believe having watched the movie made me appreciate it all even more, cause it made me understand what makes the series unique. And, without spoiling anything, I believe the ending has even made me understand the movie and accept it for what it is.

I know most people usually read the source material and then watch the adaptation, but have you ever finished a book after having watched the movie? What were your thoughts after reading it? Did the movie affect your experience?
