Soooo what the hell?

10 books. Over 10,000 pages(Ebook version). 6~ or so months reading them in my spare time.

I thought Wheel of Time had mixed quality, but fuck.

The first book was weird. Not bad, not good, just weird was it was originally a script I read.

Then...the 2nd book, which came out years later was a huge jump in quality. Then Karsa's story was fucking amazing, holy shit did I get engrossed. Then it...ends and they do a time skip and suddenly he is the most badass of the badass to ever badass.

I'm tried after a long night at work, so I can't rant long, but the books continued to diminish in quality after the third. Dude started getting preachy as shit. More plotholes than anything else ever made. More loose ends than a half-made sweater.

I am so bad I read 10 fucking books and get zero payoff. 10 books and there was no real conclusion of note. I didn't like WHeel of Time, and it's ending left me disappointed, but it didn't leave me angry like Malazan did.

People say the Sword of Truth series is trash because it pushes political views and ruins the story. I hope those same people can see how horribly politically biased this series is. I loved Sword of Truth, I barely noticed the political aspects of this.

The author of Malazan seemed to forget he was writing a story and just rants for large portions of books about how things should be in his idealized world.

Everytime something is getting interesting, he cliffhangers it worse than The Walking Dead. By the time you get back there, a hundred or two hundred pages later, all tension is deflated and you no longer care.

And his female characters....are among the worst to ever grace fiction. Every single one is a sex crazed, boozed out maniac. They're identical. He writes one female character and imposes them on everything.

KALLOR. Silverfox. I don't care that he is writing side stories involving them. It'd be like Lord of the Rings if they decided in the 3rd book to ignore everything besides Sam & Frodo. Just cut out every scene not related to them and made side stories.

I have never felt like I wasted time reading a series, but 10 books and no payoff, with 6 more others?
