I just finished reading Stephen King’s The Long Walk.. thoughts on a movie?
Sorry about not properly italicizing: mobile is a beast to work with. Maybe this is off topic for /r/books, but what stories do you think would translate well to the screen and why?
As stated, just finished reading The Long Walk. The whole while I have been thinking about how much of a psychological thriller it could be on the screen. To capture the emotional rollercoaster of the boys would be a true work of art. There are moments that wore me down, when the main group would be joking about and keeping spirits up but someone gets triggered and becomes psychotic, if only for a moment. There are moments that connect seamlessly to our present, and I had to rationalize some of the ridiculous shit I see in my daily life. The plot is mysterious, the (functioning) characters are few, and the landscape could be found on any back country road.
Anyways, this story had my full attention and I burned through it in a 24 hour span, which has never happens. I would be afraid though, that between the Hunger Games and Divergent, people would see this as a copy cat instead of a forethought.
What stories have you read that you think would translate well to the screen?
