Finished reading Lolita by Vladimir Nabokov

Reading Lolita is like riding a rollercoaster. I disliked Humbert and found him disgusting at first, but I can’t help but be empathetic to him especially at the last few chapters. I started to pity him and even sided with him for a bit. (Although I did step back and remind myself that he’s still a pedophile and did some injustices to Dolores).

I then went online to do more research about the book and I had my first encounter with the term “unreliable narrator”, and it started to make sense. Some of the details don’t really add up. And it was Humbert’s perception and it may or may not have happened exactly how he described it. This made me fell in love with literature more. There’s just so much to explore. I think Nabokov was a genius (for his prose). I didn’t really like the story, but his words were amazing, it was alive and it was reaching out (I know it sounds silly but that’s what I think). I’m planning to read more of his works and explore more stories with unreliable narrators.

I would also like to hear your feedback and opinion about the book and Nabokov as well.
