I've really noticed lately in books and even movies how stories are trending toward non-2010 civilization in that cell-phones are not even mentioned and avoided completely by most writers. Fantasy and historical fiction have exploded, I think partly for this reason. What's your take on it? Or do you find counterexamples that actually use mobile technology while avoiding obvious plot holes? I just haven't run across any.
