I'm only half way through the book, but so far I'm finding everything about Hemingway's settings, characters, plots, and writing style to be so unimaginably dull. The dialogue is so basic and strange, and overall I'm just feeling so goddamn bored. And the romance is so... weird?

Now, at first I thought that this "dullness" that permeates the novel might be an intentional choice in order to portray just how spent and tired everyone was during world war 1. Perhaps the bare-bones dialogue and emotionless characters are meant to embody this tiredness?

However the more I read of the book, I'm starting to think that this just isn't the case. I have heard that the second half of the book gets better, but I don't know if I have enough willpower to get there.
