I have an awesome 8 year old son. He’s sweet smart ( straight As) seems to have playmates at school. Participated in soccer helps with chores and has a great sense of humor. But he has depression. He feels he has no friends. Yet the teachers confirm he plays with kids all the time. He’s been meeting with a social worker at school and they are working on his confidence and the difference between big and little problems etc...

Today, Super Bowl Sunday, we relived a familiar scene. He is a crying puddle on the kitchen floor. He just can’t explain it but he’s so sad, he doesn’t think he has friends, he says he annoys himself, he says he wants to die or hates his life etc... We have a good close family. His dad and I have been married for over 9+ years. We see grandparents often etc.

We are starting a new therapist on Monday but I was curious if anyone has had success with helping kids through this phase with just talk therapy? Have you moved on to meds or supplements ? I wish I could take this pain away from him. We really want to help. Thanks in advance.
