Hello,

I am working in an government corporation. We mostly use .NET framework (not .net core), we have MSSQL databases and Windows servers.

I have an idea, I want to develop it on my own. (it is not related with my corporation) As I researched the server costs, I decided that I can't deal with Microsoft license fees. So I have to start with open source with Linux hosting.

My project is simple on the idea but if everything goes well, it could be a giant project. Mostly text based so I don't need huge database storage. As I am experienced in .NET and worked as a full stack developer, is it a good idea to go with .NET Core. I have this web project idea for years, but I couldn't start. If .net is not suitable, what is the ideal environment for startup project for me?

So I need some advice, keywords and motivation.
