.Net or Java for a startup - looking for advice!
Hello .Net devs!
I know this might not be the best community to ask questions from, but I am looking for advice from ppl who have solid experience in both .Net and Spring development, to answer my question. We want to create a startup, and part of our product would be a simple webapp to manage (a preferably, but not neccesseraly) NoSQL database, and get some statistics based of that.I prevously had some experience with Spring Boot, and found it a really convinient platform to develop to, however I have my doubts as to develop my next application with that or not. Oracle announced that they would charge for Java 8 updates, and since we are a startup, we are on an extremely tight budget and cannot afford to pay with that.
Questions (just for the record, I realize C# is a superior language to Java)
:1., (pls dont hate me :D)Would you guys (who have exp. in both platforms) still recommend using Spring? Are there convinient workarounds where we could get quality Java updates without running into annoyances using spring AND stay free of charge?
2., Is the .net framework more suitable for simple webapp development (ppl told me that Entity Framework + LINQ combo is miles ahead of Hibernate + JDBC template solutions)? If so, why? Other than the fact .net core webapps run on linux servers now, and free to use for commercial purposes.
3., Would you agree with my assumption that the reason why Oracle now wants to charge for Java updates is because they sense that the language is inevitably dying out, and want to muster out as much money from already created/running system as possible?
EDIT: (forgot to ask) 4., Is the .Net framework well suited for using NoSQL databases? I saw for instance that mongoose works really smoothly with NodeJS, but I am not sure about .net (takign into consideration I want to code in c#)
Any other comments you feel mentioning regarding this topic, feel free to do so. Other than Java bashing, we all know the language is not the best - despite now Oracle tries to modernize it as much as it can with lambda expressions etc.
Sorry for the stupid questions and Thank you in advance! :)
