Marabou Stork Nightmares
So, I just finished reading Irvine Welsh's criminally underrated sophomore novel Marabou Stork Nightmares. It may very well be my new favorite novel of his. I love how he can use such an experimental writing format, but still make it very accessible (as further seen in Filth.) If you haven't read it, I definitely recommend in. Though if you're new to Irvine Welsh I suggest starting with Trainspotting, mainly because it has a glossary at the end which helps a great deal with the Scots dialect.
For those who have read it, I can't get it out of my head and there are some parts of it that I'm dying to discuss. Mainly, the dream sequences in Africa. I feel that there's a deeper meaning to those sequences than I picked up on. I feel that I'd get more from them on a second read through, but it's not necessarily a book I'm rushing to reread.
Anybody have any thoughts?
